Also on this site are some photos from a special show:  The last performance (Jan. 30, 2002) of the all-star Rock & Roll Dance Party Tour 2002 which commemorated Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, the Big Bopper, pilot Roger Peterson and Darrel Hein, former manager of the Surf Ballroom. This presentation was entirely independent from the Winter Dance Party 2002 which ran later in the week.

Visit the Clear Lake Chamber of Commerce, the Surf Ballroom
and the Iowa Rock 'n Roll Music Association.

Probably no one has promoted the music of Buddy Holly, the Crickets and the West Texas musical legacy more than Bill Griggs. Recognition of his extraordinary efforts by inducting Bill into the Buddy Holly/West Texas Walk of Fame in Lubbock is long overdue.
